My Grandfather's Gift

As a child, I've always had a very hyperactive imagination and also had a rather keen psychic sense as well.

Often times, I would have visions of people passed or of events that would happen the next day or several days later that would turn out to be verbatum of a dream.

Because of this, I always had quite a lot of animals come to me in dreams or in the wild. But the one that would constantly follow me was a jet black panther.

Normally with black panthers, you can still see traces of their spots on their black coat; but not this one. I would say this particular animal started following me around the age of 5 or 6, just when I was starting to figure out things around me and really got interested in studying animals and how to identify them.

My dad bought me a cd to play with on the computer that shows the animals of all the different regions. I remember playing the scenes for the black panther constantly, and impressing my dad with how much I knew of the animal. Since then, the black panther has been a constant in my life.

It wasn't until recently that I found out that my gradnfather (who I was not able to meet as he died way before I was born) had a tattoo of a black panther on his arm. That was his favorite animal, and I feel that he sent this animal to me.

Once I found this out, the black panther started to appear more frequently and would greet me in my dreams with a calm sense to him and comfort me when I needed it most.

I believe now that the panther is some form of my grandfather watching over me, since he wasn't alive when I was born, I believe this to be his way of watching me grow up.
