Nature Symbolism in the City

Hi Avia,

I just love your website and all you do. Where do you find the energy?

I know where you find the inspiration - from nature, right?

Me too. I live in the middle of a a busy city, Chicago, and it is sometime very difficult to listen to nature because most of it has been covered up with concrete, cement and asphalt.

Nevertheless, nature always finds me (or I find it, or probably both, right?).

For example, last week I got some very distressing news, and I felt so scared and alone. I did not know what to do and felt so much anxiety. Times like these i wish i did not live in the city. But nature is lovely and everywhere. Remembering this, I just asked for the nature spirits to be activated around me, and suddenly every bit of organic loveliness was radiating around me.

The sky, the sunset, a small pot of mint growing in my neighbors windowsill, a dandelion saying "hello" in the middle of a sidewalk crack. Even so-called "weeds" were gathering their green and cheering me up. It is amazing how uplifting nature is when i take the time to look, see, breathe it in.

Well, i just wanted to share that with you, because reading your website articles, especially what you've written on Colette Baron-Reid's website, (that's how i found you!), has really helped me see things with new eyes. And this new way of seeing has even helped me with my depression!

So, that's my story about how nature symbolism can be found in the middle of the city (and really help, even in very stressful times too!).

Love,
Kim

Accentuating the Positives NEW
by: Avia

Hi Kim,
Great post, thanks so much for sharing! I've lived in major industrial areas and cities too, and agree - sometimes it's tough to merge with nature in these highly populated areas. But the fact that you're able to commune with even the tiniest signs of natural life says a lot about your will to accentuate the positives in your life. Kudos to you for seeking the light in the city-haze.
Namaste!
