Interpreting Symbolic Meanings…Is it Just Fluff?

From the Q & A Files

I got a question about interpreting symbolic meanings. I was asked if all this “living a symbolic life” stuff was real, or just a fluffy fantasy. Is all this symbolic stuff imagined or is there something to it? I respond from my own perspective and with 30 years experience backing me. Here’s his question:

“Hey Avia, All of this stuff you write here is very entertaining, but is that all it is? Entertainment?

For example, is there proof of earth elementals, magic, and anything else you describe that is out of the norm?

I am very interested in knowing this stuff, but I don’t want to delve deeper if I am going to be let down in the long run. I’d like to think there is deep value in interpreting symbolic meanings, but I hesitate because I fear it might be just a load of fluff.”

Avia’s Response to Roger’s Interperting Symbolic Meanings Question

Dear Roger,

Thanks for your email and sincere questioning.

I’ll be honest…it takes a certain amount of belief and faith to encounter elementals, or enchantment in life. It takes attitude, that’s for sure.

This is not to say we all frolic willy-nilly into fairy land. Too much dreaming without substance is all fluff.

That’s why I appreciate healthy skepticism. It’s necessary to question.

In my experience, I’ve encountered things that logic cannot explain, and so my inquiries persist. Science comes close to explaining the enchantments of life, but it cannot fully explain the human-element which deals with attitude, perception and the dynamism of mind/spirit.

So, I guess my answer is circumventing your question, in that I’d say the realness of magic would be dependent upon your perception and reality.

I can, however offer help in the form of recommendations: Check out Gregg Braden’s books, and also Lynne McTaggart’s books. Both approach the metaphysical realms from a scientific view, and might prove helpful on your path.

I once wrote: ‘Magic is inherent in every inhalation of life.’ and that’s really true. Various fields of science and metaphysics can track down logical, organized connections within energetic phenomenon taking place in every moment of our conscious existence.

It’s the glimmering sword of the unconscious us humans must wield in an effort to slice away doubt of deeper, esoteric wisdom. We’ve got to be able to suspend our doubt long enough to marry logic with imagination. That means we’ve got to be plugged into the ‘Omni’ (as I call it…pervasive, unifying energy. aka: spirit, god, goddess – by any name it is the animating, supporting force imbued in all things).

Life requires balance, and living a conscious life represents an endless Q&A between provable tangibles and intangible mysteries.

The world will always need magic. Without it, Life is nothing but cheap tricks.”

  1. Hi Beez,

Thanks so much for that thoughtful response. I’m glad you get that sense of ‘simple or as complex’ as you need. I really try to make all my symbolic insights approachable, and as use-able as possible. Thanks again for writing it. My best wishes for your continued expansion and illumination on your path.

  2. Avia, I really like this post. I had the same thoughts as Roger. My journey has been colorful and varied. I’ve been lead down the so-called rose garden path, and it came with a bunch of thorns. Let’s just say I’ve spent a lot of time, money and energy spinning my wheels int he spiritual realm and getting nowhere. It feels to me you offer a stable, solid platform of communication outside the average realm of understanding. You give ideas that make me reach for a better way to expand my thinking. It is very simple, but I can make it all as complex as I want. I like that, and I liek what you are doing. thanks.
