If you have spent any amount of time on my website, then you know I’m bonkers about birds. I love them for their beauty and value them for the elegant bird messages they serve. When it comes to interpreting bird omens, we have to commit ourselves to the avian arena. That means getting clear within our consciousness and purposefully connecting to bird energy. Sure, that’s easier said than done sometimes, but it CAN be done.
Interpreting the symbolism of birds is all about intuiting their calls, behavior, passage of flight. It means we must submerge ourselves into their lives and environment with a goal to glean clarity in our own lives. If you think about it, our lives can be extremely complicated compared to a day-in-the-life of a bird. This is not to say birds do not have complications…of course they do. But when we allow birds to be our winged guides, we can find ways to insert more peace and simplicity in our modern, complex lives.
I wrote about an example of gleaning clarity from bird omens in an earlier article. I spoke about how observing birds helped a friend of mine manage a highly volatile situation with her daughter. In that case, a lone sparrow and hawk flying high in the vistas of Nevada were extraordinarily helpful in my friend healing her relationship with her daughter.
This is just one instance. I’ve had a myriad of emails from people who ask me about bird omens and bird meaning in terms of what bird behavior could be revealing about human life experiences. After 20 years of working in the realm of interpreting Nature’s symbolic meanings, I’m confident in saying this: Bird messages do happen, and they can offer epic clarification in our lives.
So how can craning our necks to the skies and soulfully observing birds offer clarity? Well, a lot of clarity is gained through creating a narrative between bird behaviors and comparing it to what’s going on in our life. For example, if an eagle enters your awareness, it might carry a completely different meaning that say a crow or robin.
That’s why determining types of birds and their meanings is essential when interpreting bird omens.
Types of Bird Omens and Ideas for Interpretation
Here are a few different types of birds, and their potential meanings when it comes to bird messages and bird omens for your considerations.
Carrion Birds: These are birds that are scavengers. So, we’re talking about a wide variety of birds (because most birds are quite resourceful in picking at bits left behind). But we can narrow down bird omens in terms of carrion bird by investigating the behavior of vultures, buzzards, crows, seagulls and the like. These beauties carry specific bird messages about how we are dealing with the waste in our lives. They ask us about past influences that keep recurring for us, and what are we doing about it? Specifically, these birds ask us how we deal with death, life, waste and potential. When carrion birds come into your consciousness, start asking the following questions:
1) How can I recycle my experiences so that I may thrive and survive in the future?
2) What does death mean to me, and can I find positives in so-called endings in my life?
3) How can I take advantage of waste in order to renew my current experience? In other words, was that really a wasted opportunity? Am I overlooking something? What have I missed that can be picked over for my betterment?
Birds of Prey: These birds, such as hawks and eagles speak to us about our level of attention. When these birds come on the scene of our conscious awareness, it is time to take a look at what we are focusing on. After we identify our object(s) of focus, we then benefit from the bird omens from this clan because we can observe how they deal with their own laser-beam energies. For example, observing a peregrine falcon may help you (spiritually and energetically) nail down exactly the ideas you need to gain solutions about your obsessions (rather than fiddling about needlessly, mired in thought). These birds want you to take action on what you are focused on. When birds of prey come into your vision, consider the following…
1) What am I super-focused about, and why?
2) How can I manipulate my focus to gain positive results?
3) What actions can I take to bring about change that allows more freedom?
Songbirds: These are my favorites among the pantheon of bird omens. When songbirds come into our awareness, it is almost always a sign of incorporating more creativity and communication in our lives. Bird messages from these sing-song lovelies means getting innovative and even lyrical when it comes to manifesting beautiful connections and discussions (with ourselves and with others). When songbirds come singing in your life, ask yourself a few of these suggested quesitons…
1) How can I be more creative about this situation?
2) What ways can I be more creative in my communication with others?
3) What is my song, and how can I sing it with more confidence and vibrancy to the world?
Of course, there are more types of feathered friends that offer more bird messages and bird omens. I hope to go more deeply into this subject – so stay tuned while I continue to offer more information about bird meaning as well as symbolic meanings from Nature.
